Yesterday we were graced with sunshine and a beautiful 74 degree April day here in the Chicagoland. With it being Easter weekend, the number of meets where limited because most are spending time with their families. While others searched through the events on Facebook to spend time with their car family.
I happened to stumble across this meet in just that way. Searching through Facebook led me to arlington heights. I was going to hit up another meet on the way. The Toy Shop Grand Opening, as I drew near I could see the lot was completely filled.
Filled to the brim with bikes, I decided to keep it moving. Although my car is tiny, the Toy Shop's lot couldn't hold anymore or all the bikes would bust like a damn into the street.
At that point I texted some friends who were on the way to meet up. After briefing them on the situation, the plan was to go straight to the Car-Gathers Meet Up. Just a 15 minute drive up the road, I headed to the meet location.

We first exchanged pleasantries and after greeting one another decided to actually walk around. What also caught my eye about this meet was the fact that they supplied soda's for the attendees. We just needed to find the car with the trunk open and full of soda.
While in search for the soda, the lot itself was filling up and a few standouts were present. IND'S green BMW, a few really clean 350z's among others drew a lot of attention.
The biggest buzz going through the lot happened when a white Porsche rolled in. Rumors turned to whispers and whispers turned to talk. The talk of the town was that the Porsche belonged to one of the actors on Shameless.
I wasn't trying to be a paparazzi even though I had all my camera stuff. I figure dude has cameras in front of him all the time and just let dude enjoy himself. It looked like he came with some friends too. This Lexus and also a Mercedes AMG.
Speaking of paparazzi and celebrity status, I was actually spotted and recognized. An old car friend who I haven't seen in over a year shouted out to me. It was cool catching up and talking.
Aside from the celebrity spotting, further excitement came from people revving and laying on their two-step. I tend to frown on this behavior because it draws unwanted attention.
Another buddy of mine who I had been in contact with throughout the day finally showed up. We had been talking earlier trying to find something car related to do. When I found this one, I let him know asap. My buddy was more than eager to show off his new wing, mirrors, and wheels.
Soon the revs escalated to burnouts and burnouts to speeding in a parking lot. That's when I knew it was cue to leave.
All in all, the meet was well organized but a few ass hats can ruin it for everyone. The location was pretty decent and I can only hope the spot doesn't get ruined by reckless behavior.
