Cars & Chaos 2k17

The week after our UFC event, my good friends over at Stay ILL were hosting their annual Halloween festival known as Cars & Chaos. This time around my boys at Stay ILL wanted to one up themselves from the year before. This time around they added a motorcycle stunt show on top of the low car limbo and concert.
The anticipation for a headache free show only grew as the day drew near and a full list of activities didn't help the stress factor. Which I understand fully, so when Shane of Stay ILL asked me to be a judge for the show, I of course obliged.
The day finally came for the event and to be honest, I had a late start to my morning because of the previous nights festivities. Which really meant I woke up at the time I was supposed to roll in but conveniently the show location was only a few minutes from my house.

By the time I rolled in and set the SDL canopy up, there was little time to spare before the gates opened to the public. Despite having scattered showers throughout the mornings forecast, a good amount of cars bit the bullet and made it to dundee for the show.
As the show began, an overcast came into the area and settled in for the long haul. Which added to the stress factor for my buddies. The task of erecting the stage was held up because of the weather and then weather took a turn for the worst. Basically the show must go on despite the rain.
With that being said, the bikers fired up their engines and started the stunt show. The rain wasn't going to stop the show. Which also meant that I would still have to judge the show. My boys at Stay ILL sourced me a pancho and I set out to judge some cars.
As I mentioned early, a lot of enthusiast bit the bullet to withstand the elements and came out. By the time I was halfway through my section of cars, I was already soaked. That did not stop me though and I persevere. The last group of cars I judged was the shockwave crew.
The low car limbo was the main attraction. This brought out the lowest of the low. After a few rounds the field quickly narrowed down. The little boy in the power wheel stole the show but it was ducky trinh and his lotus that took home the win.
The shockwave crew impressed me not only with their attention to detail in their builds but also the warm inviting welcome I received from them. They walked me through every detail of each car while having a crew member hold an umbrella over me as well. I felt like they had rolled out the red carpet for me. Which did not influence their corvette for winning best of show. That vette is one bad mamma jamma.
Despite the weather, despite the delay on the stage and music, despite the fact that nothing went home dry. My boys from Stay ILL put on an impressive production. At the end of the day, that's what really matters. Making the people feel like they are a part of something bigger.
