I'll be the first to admit that I have a problem. My affinity for hatchbacks has taken over again. This time a Chevy Sonic has won my attention. Last week I received an email asking if stance down low was looking for any photographers. Allow me to introduce Jacob Cope of Copenhagen Photography and his images of this static Chevy Sonic.
This 2016 Sonic belongs to Jacob's friend Alex Howe. Wanting a brand new car with reasonably affordable payments like most, Alex turned towards the economy car market. This is when Alex came across the sonic and boom; Alex immediately saw the potential.
Immediately parts were ordered and started to arrive. Number one on the list is a set of BC coilovers paired with 20k swift springs. The springs were crucial when the plan is to dump it. The next business day came and another package arrived. The Avante Garde M220 18X8 in a +16 offset. This wheel and suspension combo tuck everything nicely into the fender.
The low life is not a life for just anyone to live. Being stock is just so boring though. Alex caught the tuner flu young, real young and would find himself tinkering on his RC cars or his BMX bike. Always searching for improvement and perfection. Like the Sonic's apple bottom having the badges shaved gives the rear that subtle finishing touch.
I agree when Alex said through our emails with Jacob that " everything looks better laying on the ground or jacked sky high." The low profile accentuates the body lines from front to back. Lighting the way is a Beastlick Design color changing projector headlights paired with Morimoto HID's. Check the video at the end to see the full spectrum of light.
Being a daily driver Alex also upgrade some creature comforts like the audio system. Playing through the speakers on his cruise to work now is a lot of $uicide Boy$ and Tech9. The audio has been upgraded with Soundqubed subwoofer ran with a Soundstream amplifier in the back and RE xxx and Cresendo component speakers powered by their own Hifonics Brutus amp. Needless to say the system bumps and is why we haved dubbed this article Sonic Boom.
Happy with how the car looks, drives and makes Alex feel. The only plans are to keep enjoying his hot hatchback and taking it to events and showing people something a little different. Having his Chevy make a Sonic Boom wherever he goes.
