One Last Ride

It is not everyday when you meet someone and think that this person could be a friend for life. Friendship is one overlooked aspect of this culture we should bring more to light. I'm sure that if you are reading this then you too have met a person at a car show or event and now consider that person a good friend.

Then sometimes these friendships blossom into a bromances. A bond is born and sometimes that bond is broken all to soon. This CBR was built by my good friend and dedicated to the ones he has loved and has lost.

It's all too unfortunate that one guarantee in life is that it will end. How we handle these losses show true character. For instance, when my good friend here lost quite a few of his biker pals in the recent years, it struck him to build a bike in memory of his fellow riders to help deal with the grief.

I know that his own personal projects have been on hold so that this bike can be completed. Selflessness like this is far and few between these days. There was no expense spared when choosing parts to modify. So when I got the call that the bike was done and the project complete, and now the time for pictures has come; I was overcome with excitement.

But there was a catch... not long after the project was completed, the bike was sold. My friend called me and told me the news. Giving us no time to get these pics done, we picked a night for his last ride. Having an M3 as my chauffeur for the evening we followed my friend into the city as he rode his bike for the last night.

Our usual first stop when coming into the city from the 90 is upper wacker. In the heart of the city the bike emulates the city skyscrapers. The limited edition 8in swing arm complete with stealth underbracing change the profile of the bike which lends to sleek appeal reminiscent to the Chicago skyline.

From the top to the bottom, we head to lower wacker. And from head to toe, a titanium bolt kit covers the bike and his LED light kit ensures ample vision at night. Also the bright ample lighting lets other drivers on the road know where you are.

One off custom 3-piece sherriff style rims designed by my buddy where made special for this bike. Other customs pieces included are the tail, shocks, springs and license plate deletes.

Putting the power to the ground are 500hp rated chains and sprockets which is controlled by a ZII BOMB POWER COMMANDER. All said and done this bike was dyno'd at 150hp. With our marks left, it was time to move along. Toward the lake we head next.

From here the night drew to an end. With the alarm clock looming and dreading working on little to no sleep, we hit the highway for one last run. In the M3 we hit 175mph on the way home and this bike still flew past us. So it's safe to say that the last ride was a good one.
